Bill and Graham headed down to Campbeltown on the 13th October.
Only a couple of tacks needed from Portavadie to Campbeltown Loch. Lamb curry for lunch.
Interesting company in the marina at Campbeltown reviewed by Graham. It turns out to be an autonomous mine sweeper with some sort of sonar/torpedo shaped device on the deck for towing. I don’t think it’s a secret as a) it’s parked beside our boat and b) it’s all over the internet.
Machrihanishm golf course has one of the best 1st holes in the world teeing off across the beach. It’s further than it looks so it pays to play safe and take the shortest route to the fairway, despite a strong following wind. All three of us made it.
Donald gets ready at the 3rd. Best to stay on the fairway at this course as the rough is very rough.
A short video of the trip back from Campbeltown via Lamlash. The wind was blowing from the WSW at an average of 22KN. Perfect angle for Pladda and then north to Lamlash Bay. The autopilot performed very well in its first real test.
Departing from Lamlash was a complete contrast to our arrival, which was wet, windy and dark. However, no wind means diesel burning which we did for the next 4 hours back to Portavadie.
